A dog
A dog seen wandering around the streets of Goa, scavenging food as best it can. Not the dust everywhere (this is a main road).
Genral view
Picture taken from a cafe of nothing in particular.
The national grid
The electricity wiring left something to be desired in Goa. This is the quality of workmanship that you can expect, and is representative of all installations. The effect of this is regular power cuts. These seemed mainly to happen between 8pm and 10pm, and continually interrupted the live music that our hotel insisted on presenting most evenings. Each cut was accompanied by a groan which seemed to come from all over Goa, as everything was plunged into darkness. Even worse was when a power cut occurred over night meaning that both the ceiling fans and the mosquito killers stopped working!
A young entrepreneur
Children are trained early to extract the most cash possible from the tourists.

Enjoying a light refreshment at a café.
The transport
A ropey moped, or a ropey bus… its your choice.
Road side scene
People going about their business
Rush hour
The traffic is varied, but the roads are not - they all have this rustic charm.
Some photos taken on our recent trip to Goa.
Jess and I visited GOA in November 2005 for a week long break from the hectic pace of life here. We can thoroughly recommend it as a holiday destination, although perhaps not for the faint-hearted. It is a very rustic but charming place, with the bustle of the towns, and the peace and sheer beauty of unspoiled landscapes.
